We Are

Alabama Values Progress is an advocacy communications hub seeking to amplify the voices and values of Alabama’s growing progressive electorate.

Our Why

We work directly with grassroots organizations and coalitions across the state to hold public officials accountable, create content and messaging strategies that disrupt the cycle of misinformation, and tear down the frames of disinformation. 

Core Responsibilities 

  • Produce and manage the content flow of e-mail lists and social media accounts in collaboration with the creative team.
  • Implement strategies to build a base of supporters through digital advertising, organic social media, texting, and other digital tools.
  • Keep up to date on trends regarding content optimization strategies, tools, and tactics.
  • Work independently and collaborate with partner groups and stakeholders to identify and collect compelling stories and educate the public about laws and programs impacting Alabama.
  • Collaborate with media team to support partner groups and stakeholders in executing earned media events, creating visuals, social media posts, and other forms of content to lift up the progressive voices, policies, and values in Alabama.
  • Test, set up, and train staff and partners on utilizing texting, relational organizing, online advocacy, and other software tools for organizing.
  • Oversee digital organizing fellowship program.

 

Candidates Should Have:

  • 2-3 years minimum of experience using a good number of these tools: CRMs (ActionNetwork, EveryAction, NationBuilder), texting (Hustle, ThruText, Strive, Spoke), relational organizing (OutreachCircle, Reach, Team), online advocacy (New/Mode, Phone2Action), story collection (Soapboxx, Flipgrid).
  • Experience as an organizer or in advocacy campaigns.
  • Proven skills engaging with a social media audience–Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tik-Tok to generate engagement and mobilization around issue advocacy work.
  • Experience managing Facebook ad campaigns and/or other paid digital programs.
  • Education background in marketing, communications, political science, or related fields is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience using social media listening, scheduling, and analytics tools to inform creative decisions and processes.
  • Understanding that organizing is about building connections and relationships. You believe that technology should be in service of organizing, not the other way round.
  • A commitment to pro-democracy values, progressive policies, and social justice.
